REU Program 2005

REU Program 2005

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program in Computational Mathematics was conducted June 5 - July 29, 2005. It was supported by the National Science Foundation. The major goal of the program were to provide a research experience for the undergraduates in order to help them make an informed decision regarding graduate school in mathematics and its applications to physical sciences. Sixteen undergraduates participated in the program, mentored by six post doctoral fellows and four faculty. The program consisted of introductory short courses during the first week, weekly seminars by distinguished faculty in a variety of application areas, and a poster session/banquet during the final week. Students and their mentors were given freedom to conduct the research with very little interruption by required progress reports.
